  • About the programme

The proposed National Health Insurance System will inevitably dominate the programme this year. More specifically, session topics will focus on the following aspects of the proposed NHI:

    • The ‘tailor-made’ South African model
    • Ensuring a valuable and critical role for medical schemes under the NHI model.
    • Access and quality of healthcare under the NHI
    • The NHI benefit package:
        - how comprehensive will it be
        - costing
        - quality assessment
        - reimbursement models
        - accreditation of providers
    • The phasing in process
        - timing
        - the private sector role in this process
        - mandatory cover
    • The role of the private funding industry in realising the goal of making the public sector the backbone for rendering health services in an NHI environment.
    • Quality and health technology assessment
    • Consumer awareness around NHI

Other topics under discussion will include:

      - The REF
      - PMB review
      - NHRPL
      - Corporate governance
      - Medical scheme rules

Sessions will take the format of interactive debates and parallel sessions led by industry experts.

Emphasis will be placed on allowing enough time in the programme for debate and discussion to ensure that value is obtained by the 900-plus delegates who will attend the event.
The detailed programme is currently being compiled and will be distributed shortly.

As usual, the exciting social programme will ensure maximum networking opportunities and will kick off with the BHF/Qualsa Golf Challenge on Sunday 30th August at the Gary Player Golf Course.

As you will see from the attached hotel booking forms, we have secured excellent rates at all of the Sun City hotels.
