As a knowledge based organisation, a primary role of BHF is the dissemination of information, to four groups of key industry stakeholders, namely; medical schemes and administrators; medical scheme members and consumers; regulatory authorities and relevant government departments; business and labour organisations.

The BHF industry KPI report gives a snapshot of both open and restricted medical schemes. This report includes 31 schemes, and while this is not a complete sample of the medical schemes industry, it represents 24% of the schemes and accounts for 79% of the medical scheme enrolment. The schemes selected are a combination of the 15 largest open schemes and 16 restricted schemes. The analysis seeks to shed light on the complex range of issues affecting the industry.
