The Department of Health, with assistance from the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS), is reassessing the regulations pertaining to prescribed minimum benefits (PMBs) in terms of the Medical Schemes Act 131 of 1998.

Responses to the first draft have been incorporated into a second draft of the consultation document. The Council for Medical Schemes has requested comment to the second draft from stakeholders to be sent before the 15 October 2008 .
